Red Ribbon Campaign

Red Ribbon Week October 23rd-31st

The Dyer County Sheriff's Office also provides drug awareness by sponsoring a annual Red Ribbon Celebration campaign. Since its beginning in 1985, the National Red Ribbon Campaign has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction cause by drugs in America.

Don't Joke Around With Drugs

Youth Education efforts are promoted by utilizing our K-9 Program as a tool to interact with students.

“Don’t Joke Around With Drugs”, a anti-drug campaign utilizing our German Shepherd K-9 named “Joker”, and his handler Sgt. Danny Petrie to teach our youth about the dangers of drugs. Our K-9’s also promote the message of ”These Paws Don’t Touch Drugs”.

We're On The Right Track

Our officers are available to educate our youth in the schools and communities. Youth Education efforts are promoted by utilizing our K-9 Program as a tool to interact with students.

“We’re On The Right Track”, an anti-crime campaign utilizing two new additions of bloodhound track puppies in training, Bella Grace and Isabell. They currently attend FFA and youth sports functions.

Lunch with Kids mentoring program

In promotion of the Fight Crime Invest in Kids initiative, the Dyer County Sheriff's Office in its continued effort in youth education has established a Lunch with Kids mentoring program was established in 2012 uniting Sheriff’s Deputies with students in the School System. The aim of the Lunch with Kids Program is to build positive relationships between the youth and law enforcement officers in an attempt to provide these adolescents with support and guidance. The positive influences of forming a mentoring relationship with a law enforcement officer is intended to help these kids at a younger age consider the consequences of their actions and to encourage them to make positive decisions.

“Team Up Against Drugs” is a youth drug awareness campaign creating a partnership between the Dyer County Sheriff’s Office and youth programs allowing interaction between children and the Sheriff’s Office in the promotion of drug awareness.
